Yaser Birjas: Activists Must Focus on Themselves

Yaser Birjas: Activists Must Focus on Themselves
This entry is part 2 of 6 in the series Quran Weekly: Yaser Birjas' Advice to Activists

5 minute video.

Important take-aways:

The previous video discussed being active in whatever avenue possible.

So when you have finished [your duties], then stand up [for worship]. [94:7]

When you are free, strive in devotion. The Prophet (saw) endured lots of hardship to call people to Allah.

After all these hours of work, you would expect to get some rest, but he’s commanded to now worship.

After you’re done focusing on people, you have to focus on yourself.

As much as you focus on people, and spend time volunteering, for the true success of your efforts you must also focus on yourself.

Don’t be like a candle that burns itself out while providing light to others. Be like the sun that comes out at a time to shed light for part of the day, then go get some rest.

The night prayer is the best action you can do after your obligatory ones.
