Yaser Birjas: Dawah is a Test

This entry is part 3 of 6 in the series Quran Weekly: Yaser Birjas' Advice to Activists

4 minute video.

Alif, Lam, Meem. Do the people think that they will be left to say, “We believe” and they will not be tried? But We have certainly tried those before them, and Allah will surely make evident those who are truthful, and He will surely make evident the liars. [29:1-3]

One of the biggest trials of activism is being under-appreciated.

One of the tests you will face is doing things for the sake of Allah. You will face both excessive criticisms and praise – expect that, and do things for the right reason.

“We feed you only for the countenance of Allah . We wish not from you reward or gratitude. [76:9]

If you expect reward from people, they will inevitably disappoint you. If you expect your reward from Allah, you will always be happy and excited about what you do.

Have patience and persevere through the trials of activism. The trials are unavoidable, avail yourself with patience.
